Dear Parents/ Guardians,

     I was not able to start  classes this January at St Luke's in Goodhue.  I am accepting registrations for September, 2008.  Classes must have a minimum of 5 students and the maximum will always be 10 students. 

     Our classes begin with freeplay for 30 to 45 minutes.  The children can choose to play in the art center, building center, manipulative area, tactile table, or imaginative play area.  We will then pick up our toys and get ready to start our day.  Each class begins with a prayer.  The 3 & 4 class then transitions to our work day with some songs or a game. The 4 &5 year class includes  the pledge of allegiance, the weather and calendar are discussed each day.  We also have an introduction to beginning math concepts as part of our class day.  Circle time introduces our topic for the day eg:  if we are discussing Creation Day 1 we will read the story in our children's bible and discuss some of the differences between light and dark, what do we do in the dark and in the light.  Our next activity generally is a large motor game because we have been sitting for so long.  The activity is usually related to our topic for the day- we might crawl through tunnels for a light and dark activity.  Arts and crafts are on the agenda next and our project is again related to the daily topic.  When the project is complete we usually have time for a story that is related to our theme.   This is a quick tour of our day.  Science is very important and fun at this age and I try to make hands on science a part of each day.
